How To Promote Your Website Or Blog With Forums
This is a very touchy subject since the majority of forum admin really hate the fact that people are always trying to spam their forum. Now if they decide they had enough and either decides to take off signatures or make the entire forum “nofollow” then usually it turns out that the majority of webmasters leave since they lose the benefit of link juice. I know it sound greedy, but what webmasters and bloggers that understand website promotion and use the internet to earn money online know that time is potential backlinks and exposure. So if a blog does not allow links, sigs, or is no follow then you are usually loosing time which you could be spending much more productively.
On the other hand online marketing is not only about backlinks and when you are in a forum in no way should you place your link where it does not belong. Forums can be an excellent place to gain thousands of one way (sometimes high PR if the post is linked to extensively) backlinks. When people participate in forums they of course should have links on their mind, but also always be trying their best to help the community anyway possible. Forums are a great place not only to learn, but build friendships and possible cross promotional partners. Use webmaster forums to find people within your niche once you build up a friend ship the possibilities are endless for promotional endeavors. One of my favorites is doing reviews for high priority backlinks. You should also be concerned with finding forums within your niche personally I am in the website marketing niche and the make money niche. Both of these have quite a few forums which I use and have been helpful.
When you first start in a forum it is difficult to see the forum as a community and not just a place to either spam or spout off how much you know. When you make a point and you are not an expert in the field it is important to mention so or you will be flamed by all the experienced webmasters calling your point crap. If you explain that is what you think then rather a stream of people telling you that you know nothing they will probably take the time to explain why you are wrong. It is also very important that you remain friendly when starting out in a forum. There will be quite a few of the older webmasters who may be unfriendly to your ideas and they may even be mentors or moderators let them say what they want to say and keep your mouth shut until you have a leg to stand on when arguing. If you are friends with the forum admin then you can tell them exactly what you think; I have just noticed that many new comers do not know when to keep their mouths shut and end up getting kicked off within the first week of participating. I understand that it is sometimes difficult to not take what people are saying even online personal, but you must get past the first few weeks or months on a forum before you will be accepted. You will know you are accepted when the moderators are backing you up rather than telling you to shut up.
