The Internet And Tangible Advances In Coming Years

March 22nd, 2009 | Posted in Blogging

The Web turns 20 today. totally amazing if you ask me. My 10 year old wonders out loud what we all did before the Internet by which he means the browser based world of Club Penguin, Google, msn, and You Tube. And for the life of me, I can not remember, either.

How did we communicate? Well, I remember that I wrote lots of letters to friends to stay in touch and was thrilled when someone wrote back it was too expensive to make long distance phone calls. My fifth grade buddies and I also wrote away to esso and STP to ask for stickers to put on our note books. I also spent a lot of time in the library (any library anywhere) and in book stores looking for books, magazines, research papers, whatever.

And for sharing information? Copies, copies, copies. I was an early and big fan of the mimeograph machine, stinky beast though it was. We used to sneak into the Physics office in college to get extra blanks in case we messed up when making copies for a presentation. And you had to get there early on seminar day to command a slot in the mimeograph line. (It was a blessed breakthrough when the photo copier machine was installed and only about five pence a copy!

And for creating, editing, co authoring? It was typewriters, paper, and biro pens, folks. And pen and ink for graphics.

caveman stuff, but amazingly it worked. It took days or weeks to create a piece of work though.

Now, after a Personal Computer revolution and a Web transformation, it definitely feels like the golden days that my grandparents lived in. these days we blog, post, twitter, comment, Google, Instant Message, Web conference, share screens, capture group chats, you know the idea. Turnarounds in minutes. Real presence. Global distribution. Shared authoring in real time if you want.

But what about the next ten years?

I don’t think we have to look very far to find what lies ahead in the next five years because it’s already here in primitive form. It’s user friendly IM, VoIP, desktop and Tele presence video conferencing, real-time co-authoring, Web-centric productivity and collaboration tools, much better search through company information and data, virtual world meeting spaces, unified conferencing, remote team members as connected to you as those a single floor away, meeting centric collaboration platforms, content derived expertise identification, tag clouds at the heart of semantically drive search, analytical graphs at the heart of expertise location, and of course all services available from a mobile Internet device. More online shops like Birthday Party Supplies
So what about the next fifteen years?

Definitely most if not all the things above. But also semantically defined information workspaces that better reflect your past and present behaviour, 3D interactions with information, incredibly realistic versions of you in virtual meeting rooms, much improved audio experiences that recreate three dimensions in comfortable earphones, much more civilized online experiences that better expose our culture and social norms, and many more intelligent information services that tie together disparate but unintelligent information sources in ways that meet my specific needs, this is my view of the semantic Web.

Pagerank=Money?

October 20th, 2008 | Posted in Blogging, Business, Make Money Online

There are many online business using the Google pagerank as the main pre requirement to accept the blogs within their network like TLA, Paid Reviews, and more. The TLA publishers who have website/blogs with the higher pagerank certainly get more money. Because the value of a link are depends on the pagerank of the site. For paid review also using the same approach, they will pay more for the website/blog with the higher pagerank. The other business that will give you more chance to get more revenue which is based on the website pagerank is paid survey.

The question is, will your income stopped when you get slapped with a decrease in your Pagerank? Yes, if you have only joint the business that accepted the website with the PR. Nope, if you have another business which is ignore the PR.

So, “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket”. Yes, diversification in making money online is very important. When making your living with online business it is best to diversify. Don’t be hanging on to the business which is too “pagerank oriented”. As we know, Search engines like Google can suddenly change the rules, algorithms and bring you ranking down to the bottom of the engine. Many advertisers company that inconsiderate the PR, and many affiliate business available. You can join with them and make money. Remember, to gain the success on make money online the important thing is how to promote your business/blog, it’s not only search engine. So, don’t worry about your ranking down to the bottom, you can still grow up and receive money by your website.

The other question: Will people stop going to your blog if you’re a PR0? No, your friends still visit your blog, although your PR drop to zero. So many ways to get the real traffic to the website, moreover if your blog has became a famous blog, your loyal reader still continue visit your website faithfully.

The following is the blogger, who didn’t care about google pagerank. His website still survive and continue deliver the money even though it has been slapped to PR0.

Tyler Cruz has been slapped by Google, they slapped him back to PR0! But what was happened? Tyler’s blog continues to grow and his RSS feed subscribers still went up this past month. Now, he’s well over 1,200. So, that must tell you something!

It has not affected traffic or earnings in the slightest, nor had I expected it to. PageRank has never been of any importance other than ranking you better in some ad networks such as ReviewMe and Text-Link-Ads. Other than that, it is meaningless, especially since DMOZ went downhill.

I really don’t mind too much that I’m a PR0, since PageRank lost any real meaning over the past few months; great blogs and sites have low PageRank, while scraper sites or brand new blogs have higher ranks. The whole point of PageRank was for Google to show users the ‘quality’ of a site, and now that is useless.

Check Yes, People CAN Make Money Online Without a Pagerank! Ask Tyler Cruz for more detail.

So, why a lot of people tend to stress how important Google Pagerank is, meanwhile they can still get money without pagerank?
