Four Biggest Lies About Making Money Online

May 17th, 2008 | Posted in Business, Tips

People lie. It’s a fact of life. Deal with it. Marketers lie, gurus lie, many folks who are into making money online lie. They do so for a variety of reasons. Some do it because they want to make you think that it’s easy to make money online so that they can sell you something. However, others do it to discourage you so that you don’t end up competing with them. Honestly, I am guilty of some of it myself. That’s just the way this market works today. I don’t lie, but it is part of my business as well to use verbiage that entices people to click. Well, in this article I’m going to reveal the 4 biggest lies about making money online.

People don’t always say the truth. That’s the truth, so face it and digest it, that isn’t much you can do about it. In the world of Internet Marketing, this happens even more often. Almost every sales page out there has some amount of hype and verbiage bordering on, if not directly stating lies. Why do they do it? Well, you really should know that by now, they want you to buy their product. Even if they offer a money back guarantee, they know that there is a very very small chance that you will go back to them and ask for your money back. When you enter this field of Internet Marketing, you ought to know what these lies and avoid anyone stating anything like that like a plague!

The number 1 lie is that it is easy. IT IS NOT. They tell you this only to entice you into buying. You can believe what I am saying or try the next five Internet Marketing Strategy products and see hardly any results that are even close to what the gurus promise and then know for yourself. The truth is, making money online is one of the hardest things you’ll ever do. You’re used to your 9 to 5 job and that’s all you’ve ever known. This is a whole new world and because of that, it’s not easy. There is a big learning curve. Don’t forget that.

The second lie is that making money online is fast. Offline businesses typically take years to make a profit. So why would it be so different online? It’s not. Yes, it’s a little easier because there isn’t as much overhead, but it’s still something that is going to take a lot of time. Moreover, there is often more competition online owing to the smaller barrier to entry to compensate and thus making the same amount of profits just as hard. The gurus say you can do it quickly because again, they want your money.

The third lie is that you don’t need to know anything to make money online. This one is the FARTHEST from the truth. You do need to know a lot. The lesser you know, the more time it is going to take you to get NOTHING something that can make you millions knowing nothing. May be the gurus are really trying to say that you can learn quickly. But there again, you need to have the aptitude to learn quickly. So even that is not nothing. Whichever way you look at it, you are going to have to know or learn quickly to succeed. Another option is to hire people to do it for you, but you have got to have deep pockets for that and get lucky with your vendors because if you don’t know what you are doing, they are likely to take you for a ride as well. This market is tough. Not nearly as easy as they say.

The fourth big lie is that you can make money online without any kind of a plan. That’s right. All you need to do it make a website and watch your bank account. Again, a huge lie. I personally have seen several people fail. So, it does not happen automatically. You need a plan. You need to decide what business you’re going to get into. You need to decide how many hours a day you’ll work at it, how much you plan to spend on advertising, how much you hope to earn yearly, and so on. Everything must be planned out or you’re looking for trouble.

These are the 4 biggest lies that they’ll tell you, all because they want your money.

Don’t forget them.

Search Engine Optimization and Affiliate Marketing

April 27th, 2008 | Posted in Affiliate, Business, Search Engine Optimization

In order to bring targeted traffic to your affiliate marketing website it is necessary to optimize your site. Optimization simply means getting your website ready for search engine submission. In order for your site to have a good position in the search engines it is very important to understand how to do basic optimization.

Firstly you will need to do some keyword research. You can do this by going to goodkeywords.com and finding the best keywords for your business theme. You can also go to wordtracker.com to find more specialized or niche keywords. Make a list of them and base your content pages around one or two keywords or key word phrases. Optimize your pages at about 3% keyword density. This will be the general rule for optimizing your content

For better Page Rank and good positioning in Google it is necessary to keep your website content fresh. You can do this by adding content every week. When you add lots of good optimized interesting content, both the search engines and your visitors will be happy. Keep good resources for your visitors and you will also gain better Page Rank. This will also encourage other webmasters to link to you and get more back links.

Back links are also useful for raising your Page Rank. Other ways to get these is article distribution. You can either write them yourself or get others to do so. You can also go to this free website http://www.moreniche.com/tools.html and take advantage of their tools and advice. They will also provide you with free weekly content. You can modify them for use on your website or for article distribution.

Increase Your Sales by Writing Articles

April 17th, 2008 | Posted in Business, Marketing

If you’ve been checking out this series of articles, you’ve seen how important it is for any serious affiliate marketer to have good web content. Good content can mean the difference between someone clicking onto your site and clicking away a moment later and someone staying for a while and then clicking through to buy the product or service you’re trying to sell. But what if you just aren’t a very good writer? What if your mind is programmed for business, not English. Don’t worry, there are options for you.

Search the public domain. There are millions of articles that are currently in the public domain that you can use on your web site free of charge. A simple web search can bring up hundreds of these kinds of articles. And the best part is you can edit them, change them, alter them or do whatever you want to them so that they sound exactly like you want them to. You don’t have to worry about paying any authors or stepping on any toes. This is an excellent way to go if you don’t want to write content yourself.

You can pay companies to write content for you, and in most cases, it’s cheaper than you think. When you consider how important good web content is, paying someone a few dollars to write exactly what you need isn’t such a bad idea. Of course, some companies charge more than others and it always pays to shop around, but don’t shut yourself off to the idea of paying for content. Sometimes you have to spend money to make money and this is one of those cases if you don’t want to write your own web content.

Maybe the best choice of the three is to simply read and learn. Spend a week or two clicking around on the Internet and reading the web content on other affiliate websites. Take as much of that content in and then try to write in a similar style about the product you’re trying to sell. You don’t instantly become the best writer in the world this way, but studies have shown that the more you read, the better writer you’ll be. Experience pays and the more you know about how to write in this style, the easier it will be.

Having solid web content can’t be overstated. You will never have a truly successful affiliate marketing website unless you have good content. If you can’t write it yourself, you do have other options, but the best thing you can do is to learn how to write in this style. It will be an investment that will pay off time and time again.

The Differences Between Affiliate Marketing and MLM

April 12th, 2008 | Posted in Affiliate, Business

Because affiliate marketing works so well and seems to genuinely benefit both the website that is advertising as well as the website that is hosting, people tend to look for problems that just don’t exist. One of the “problems” that has dogged affiliate marketing for years is the idea that is is a multi-level marketing scheme.

What is multi-level marketing? It’s much better known as a pyramid scheme. In most traditional cases, pyramid schemes are illegal. They work by constantly signing up new people to sell a product that doesn’t actually exist. The people at the top of the pyramid make money be collecting a commission off of all the sales that happen below them in the pyramid structure.

In recent years, pyramid schemes have tried to gain a bit of respectability by offering legitimate products like phone cards that made the whole operation legal. But, in essence, pyramid schemes are still tainted by the perception that they are inherently dishonest and, unless you start a pyramid scheme and are at the top of the pyramid, you’re earning money for someone else.

Affiliate marketing is, in no conceivable way, multi-level marketing. In most cases, a site that wants to advertise pays another site to direct traffic to them. There are multi-level affiliate marketing set ups that have one site direct traffic to another site and then that site directs people to the site that pays both previous sites, but even in this case, the customer isn’t tricked or misled and there isn’t any sort of financial transaction that takes place, either. Multi-tiered affiliate marketing is simply another way for web pages to create traffic and revenue.

The way earnings work for multi-level affiliate marketing is different than a pyramid scheme, as well. Is it true that in the end, the site that is being linked to makes the most money? Sure, but that’s because they are the ones offering the product or service. The other sites are simply steering customers to them. With multi level affiliate marketing, everyone makes money and assuming a legitimate good or service is being sold at the end of the path, the consumer ends up happy, too.

It can be a little confusing for those new to Multi level affiliate marketing to tell the difference between it and a pyramid scheme. But rest assured the two have very little in common, most importantly the fact that almost all pyramid schemes are illegal while multi level affiliate marketing is quite legal and a very effective tool in Internet advertising,
